PGY1 Community-Based Pharmacy Residency Program

Program Description

The ÃÛ¶¹ÊÓƵ Joan M. Lafleur College of Pharmacy & Health Sciences (COPHS) PGY1 Community-Based Pharmacy Residency Program is an ASHP-accredited program designed to build upon the Doctor of Pharmacy education and develop pharmacist providers capable of delivering comprehensive, patient-centered care in community-based practice settings.  The residency provides structured and longitudinal experiences that integrate direct patient care, population health management, collaborative practice, medication safety, and practice advancement. Residents function as integral members of the healthcare team while developing competence in ambulatory and community-based care delivery models at designated practice sites, including The University of Texas Medical Branch (UTMB).  Residents who successfully complete the program will be skilled in comprehensive patient care, practice management, leadership, scholarship, and education. Upon completion, residents will be prepared to pursue board certification and/or advanced PGY2 training and to assume clinical, academic, or leadership roles in community-based pharmacy practice.
